The Masses Love Bread and Circuses

How do we get the general public to change? In short we can’t. The mass of people have been conditioned from childhood and through adulthood to follow orders from paternalistic overseers. Change has to come from above by laws and incentives. By and large people are greedy and lazy. Driven by status and appearances the last thoughts will be the welfare and care of the preservation of the biosphere and the unborn.

To talk at depth about the things that really matter will push at the Overton window and potentially alienate people.

Climate change is scary. War is terrifying this is why these topics are barely mentioned in conversation. It is possible to get a few people to change but it is the conductors that will set the overtures and the directors who will direct the casts of this planetary movie.

Grass roots activism has its place and can – if done correctly – shock the public into making positive changes.

By and large the public are infatuated with sports trivia and television. Trying to appeal to the masses will be a futile feat. Their minds are not elevated towards the higher needs of the future and sustainable living. If we want to appeal to the masses we need to use football analogies such as football pitches lost or use Netflix metaphors.
