Work in Progress

Palestine is a concentration camp of starving, homeless, dispossessed of their homeland and communities. The world watches on as one of the worlds horrific human atrocities takes place. Still the armaments are delivered to the killers but not enough food to the sufferers. Israel has become an incarnation of Hamas.

Based on an examination of our DNA, any two human beings are 99.9 percent identical. The genetic differences between different groups of human beings are similarly minute. Still, we only have to look around to see an astonishing variety of individual differences in sizes, shapes, and facial features. – Craig Venter, president of Celera Genomics

“If you are interested in what your ancestors have contributed to the present time, you have to look at the population of all the people that coexist with you,” Manrubia says. “All of them carry the genes of your ancestors because we share the same ancestors.”

And because the genetic isopoint occurred so recently, Rutherford says, “in relation to race, it absolutely, categorically demolishes the idea of lineage purity.” No person has forebears from just one ethnic background or region of the world. And your genealogical connections to the entire globe mean that not too long ago your ancestors were involved in every event in world history. – geneticist Graham Coop of the University of California, Davis

Amos Goldberg: ‘What is happening in Gaza is a genocide because Gaza does not exist anymore’

Given the scale of the massacres and destruction perpetrated by the Israeli army in Gaza, the Israeli historian, a specialist of the Holocaust, says in an interview with Le Monde that his country ‘criminally overreacted’ to the October 7 massacres – Le Monde

We are all closely related to each other

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Martin Luther King – Letter from Birmingham, Alabama jail, April 16, 1963.

A drone manufacturer that is “supporting the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] 100%” in the war on Gaza received a €50,000 research and development grant from the EU, an analysis published today by Statewatch and Informationsstelle Militarisierung (Information Centre on Militarisation, IMI) reveals. Other Israeli military companies and institutions have received millions of euros for drone development in recent years, despite a supposed prohibition on EU funding for military and defence projects.

Human rights groups have called on the EU to suspend its association agreement with Israel due to the disastrous effects of the latter’s assault on Gaza: huge civilian casualties, mass displacement and the razing of infrastructure. This report shows that the EU also needs to take a long, hard look at the companies it provides with research and development funding. Public money should be used for the public good, not to support companies that profit from war and destruction. Statewatch

“Nobody can ignore it anymore they’ve completely exposed themselves for the awful, dreadful people that they are, the Israelis I’m talking about and not just the government because it’s largely supported by the people of Israel, and I’m not talking about Jews, it doesn’t matter who does this.” Roger Walters

Every important social movement reconfigures the world in the imagination. What was obscure comes forward, lies are revealed, memory shaken, new delineations drawn over the old maps: it is from this new way of seeing the present that hope emerges for the future…Let us begin to imagine the worlds we would like to inhabit, the long lives we will share, and the many futures in our hands.

How many small decisions accumulate to form a habit? What a multitude of decisions, made by others, in other times, must shape our lives now.

I am beginning to believe that we know everything, that all history, including the history of each family, is part of us, such that, when we hear any secret revealed, a secret about a grandfather, or an uncle, or a secret about the battle of Dresden in 1945, our lives are made suddenly clearer to us, as the unnatural heaviness of unspoken truth is dispersed. For perhaps we are like stones; our own history and the history of the world embedded in us, we hold a sorrow deep within and cannot weep until that history is sung.
