There always has and always will be poor people in society. Society has always been pyramid shaped with a few at the top, a huge poor crowd at the base and those in between.
It is an unfortunate reality that life has to be this way but this is how it has always been and always will be.
For everyone to be successful and living a first class life this will require immense resources and will be game over for our biosphere.
If we compare the poor of today with the poor of yesteryear we will see enormous improvements in physical and mental well-being. Food flown in from all over the globe, coffee from Brazil, digital entertainment devices that offer entertainment unparalleled to any society on earth. Endless books and music freely available.
If we continue to live delusional lives with high expectations then we will need to replace those unwilling to work with immigration. It is unsustainable to expect to have millions hankering for top positions and leaving the base of the pyramid empty.
